The inaugural Provincial Clay Shoot was held on Saturday 17 October 2026 at the Jolly Sailor Inn, just off the A174 Moor Road, with competitors shooting for the prestigious WBro John Phelps Memorial Trophy and the Provincial Clay Preservation Trophy (Wooden Spoon).
A total of 30 Brethren, friends and family members attended the event and took part in a challenging 50-bird sporting shoot, expertly organised and hosted by the excellent Jolly Sailor Clay Shooting Club.
Our YNER Provincial Clay Club Secretary WBro Kev Stephen commented:
“What a fantastic day we have had. Everyone has commented on how enjoyable the shoot was, the excellent meal afterwards, and the quality of the raffle prizes on offer. Thanks to the generosity and support of everyone involved, we raised an excellent £519 towards the Festival.”
Assistant Provincial Grand Master and Festival Chair WBro Martin Eggermont presented the prizes and said:
“What a great event this has been. Brethren coming together with family and friends, enjoying a great shoot, great food and great company. To be able to raise that amount of money for the Festival, which will go on to help our masonic family in need, is absolutely fantastic.”
Special thanks to Kev Stephen, his wife Sandra, son Dan and Tony (surnames needed Sbro and Gbro) for their hard work and organisation and Russ Dickinson for his shooting expertise and clear direction in training first time gun handlers.
