What a fantastic day on the 16th May at Bridlington Skydive Club where a total of 15, 12 brethren and 3 ladies, volunteered to take a leap of faith from 10,000 feet (2 miles) and complete a Tandem Parachute Jump. I am very pleased to announce that all 15 landed safe and sound. Well done everyone.
We all started to arrive at around 12 midday and everyone appeared to be excited about jumping. We were delayed a little but started to get prepared around 1.30-2.00 pm. As each pair were called to climb into their flying suits and harnesses you could feel that the long wait was bringing everyone closer to their time to jump. Some were really looking forward to when it was their time and some were not sure what to feel.
The feelings of uncertainty soon went away when each pair landed and said how much they enjoyed it and would definitely do it again. This gave those still to jump more confidence to worry less and enjoy the experience.
The day was long but all 15 completed their Tandem Jump at approx. 7.15pm on the evening. Everyone who jumped certainly left with a smile on their faces with a story to tell. Comments from some of the jumpers who expressed how much they enjoyed it are below:
- “That was the most fun I’ve ever had with my clothes on” James Ashby Kelly.
- “What an amazing experience” David Shute and Mark Hartley.
- “An experience I will never forget” Craig Chadwick.
- “Absolutely brilliant day. No words can describe the feeling” Mal Ivison.
Thank you to all 15 Jumpers. Special thanks to all friends and families who turned up to watch everyone land safely. Also thank you to the children for their patience, as the weather became increasingly cooler.
Thank you to John Rees our Photographer on the day, great photos John, which can be viewed on the Provincial Facebook page and many thanks to Bridlington Skydive Club for accommodating us.
Finally, a massive thank you to everyone who has donated to our Festival 2029, so that the Masonic Charitable Foundation can continue to support brethren and families in our Province who are in need.
